Keep adding to your goals, grab a notebook, and write your meals down.  It is ok to mix it up, but remember how you achieved your success.  Grab your water bottle to stay hydrated and make your grocery list for the week and keep staying focused on your goal of looking good and feeling good.

Setting Goals While Dieting Keeps Me on Track

I have been setting goals while dieting to keep me on track.

When you think of a diet, you usually think of the things you can’t have and are taking away from your meals.  What if you could think of new ways to enhance your meals and make them tastier than ever.  

Goal Setting is the way to start.

When you start a new project or a job do you set a goal?  What do you want to accomplish? How will you get there? What is the long term result?  For many of us, it is to lose weight, but the trick is how you will do it and stick with it.   For me, this is a game-changer.  I am all about quick, fast, and convenient.  

Change your food intake.

Changing my food intake and when I eat is my goal to help guide me in making the right decisions to help me reach my weight loss goal.   With the help of Always Eat After 7 pm program, I am seeing a difference. My clothes don’t feel as tight as they once did. I have more energy and am not a couch potato.   I am cooking more and meal prepping.  This is a first.   By planning out what I am eating I am not heading to the drive-thru on my way home from work.    I still have my diet soda however I am never without my water bottle.  No one said you had to omit everything you indulged in previously.

By choosing the right foods to enjoy late at night I found it easier to stick with this plan.   I actually looked forward to eating later in the day.   It also helped since I was getting home after 9.  

Did you know?

The most challenging times to curb hunger are just before bed and in the morning. By following the Always Eat After 7 PM program, you have the most willpower to stay on the diet because you are eating during the hours when you are most hungry. This also puts you into both intermittent fastings increasing testosterone and your metabolism, while putting you into ketosis.  

Meal Planning is a Win!

Meal planning is a huge win for me.  I can be prepared for the day and not wonder what my next meal would be.  Also having the correct mindset is key.  Hold your self accountable to the goals that you have set.  In chapter 6 Joel mentions a few key things that I really beleive in.  

  1. Beleive you can and lose the excuses.
  2. Excommunicate negative people in your life. 
  3. Live in the present
  4. Redefine who you are. 
  5. Start!
  6. Develop a simple morning routine.
  7. Allow yourself bad moments, not bad days.
  8. Recognize failure as a teacher, not a final destination. 
  9. Own your results
  10. Briefly celebrate success, then move on.

Cheesy Ground Beef Skillet

This recipe fits the bill perfectly by providing a hefty dose of muscle-building protein

to feed your body everything it needs in your quest for a leaner, healthier body.

Prep:  20 minutes * Cook:  38 minutes * Makes: 6 servings

  • 1 ¾ cups water
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup white rice
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb extra lean ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon garlic, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper 
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 1 (15oz) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 
  • 1/3 cup fresh parsley, minced 

1. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan over high heat. Add the salt and rice, stir once, then cover the pot and reduce to low heat for 18 minutes. 

2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet. Stir in the ground beef. Cook and stir until the beef is crumbly and no longer pink. Drain and discard any excess grease. Mix in the onion and garlic. Cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Add the bell pepper, oregano, basil, red pepper, sea salt and black pepper. Cook and stir until the bell pepper is tender, about 5 minutes. 

3. Stir in the cooked rice, tomato sauce, and kidney beans. Reduce the heat and cover until the vegetables are tender, about 8 minutes. Remove the pan from heat, sprinkle the cheese over top and garnish with fresh parsley. 

Chili Loaded Baked Potato

How in the world can a chili loaded baked potato be healthy? 

It’s really simple when you use this delicious recipe hack. 

It’s the perfect combination of macronutrients to help stabilize blood sugar and regulate your cortisol cycle keeping your body in fat-burning mode.

Prep:  15 minutes * Cook:  95 minutes * Makes:  6 servings

  • 6 (8-oz) sweet potatoes
  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 yellow onions, diced
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Oregano
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 (15 oz) can butter beans, drained and rinsed
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 Anaheim chile, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • ¼ cup red onion, minced


    1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet or pan with parchment paper. Rinse and scrub the sweet potatoes. Pat dry with a paper towel and pierce several times with a fork or knife. Place in the prepared pan. Lightly spray the sweet potatoes with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to an hour, until tender when poked.

    2. Sauté the chuck in olive oil until fully cooked. Drain off the fat and return the beef to the pot with the onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, oregano, paprika, and cayenne. Reduce the heat to medium-low and sauté until the onions are soft, about 10 minutes, stirring often.

    3. Add the broth, crushed tomatoes, and vinegar. Increase the heat to high and bring to a boil. Reduce to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the butter beans, cilantro, and Anaheim chile and cook for another 5 minutes. Season with sea salt.

    4. Split the potatoes lengthwise, fluff the flesh with a fork. Top evenly with the chili, a dollop of yogurt and a sprinkle of cilantro and red onion.
